Deliciously sweet and crunchy, these Caramel Popcorn Balls are a perfect homemade treat that combines the buttery richness of caramel with light, airy popcorn for an irresistible snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Stir constantly and bring to a boil.
  3. Let it boil without stirring for 4–5 minutes or until the mixture reaches 250°F (hard ball stage) on a candy thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda and vanilla extract (the mixture will bubble up).
  5. Immediately pour caramel sauce over the popped popcorn in a large bowl and gently stir to coat evenly.
  6. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then butter your hands and shape the popcorn into 3-4 inch balls.
  7. Place on wax paper and let cool completely before serving.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, sprinkle some sea salt or mini chocolate chips on the popcorn balls before the caramel sets.
