Double Chocolate Cookies

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually blend dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are set and edges are slightly crisp.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra chocolate boost, sprinkle a few sea salt flakes on top of each cookie before baking.
