jam donut focaccia

Jam donut focaccia is a delightful fusion treat combining the airy texture of Italian focaccia with the sweet, fruity filling of classic jam donuts. This unique baked good offers a perfect balance of soft bread and luscious jam for a comforting snack or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup raspberry or strawberry jam
  • Vegetable oil, for drizzling
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter, stirring to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Gently deflate the dough and press it into a greased baking pan, about 1-inch thick.
  7. Using your fingers, create deep dimples across the surface of the dough.
  8. Spoon jam generously into each dimple to fill the indentations.
  9. Drizzle vegetable oil lightly over the top to keep the focaccia moist and shiny.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For an extra indulgent touch, warm the jam before filling the dimples, and serve slices with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
