Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  • Steamed rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef.

  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef.

  6. Serve the Korean ground beef hot over steamed rice and garnish with sesame seeds.

Notes

For added flavor, try topping with a fried egg or serve with steamed vegetables like broccoli or bok choy.
