A hearty and flavorful chili made with lean turkey burger, packed with spices and vegetables for a comforting, protein-rich meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground turkey burger
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and diced green bell pepper; cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant and slightly softened.
  3. Add ground turkey burger to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
  5. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, and chicken broth. Stir everything together.
  6. Bring the chili to a simmer, reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Uncover and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to thicken the chili to your preferred consistency.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro or parsley if desired.

Notes

For added depth of flavor, simmer the chili longer or top with shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream when serving.
